GENERAL CLUB CODE OF CONDUCT

Virtue is fully committed to safeguarding of all our members, we adhere to the strict guidelines under British Gymnasts in regards to the welfare of our children. The club believes it is important that all members must show respect and understanding for the welfare of others. Therefore, members are encouraged to be open at all times and share any concerns that they may have about any aspect of the club with our staff or our welfare team.

As a member of Virtue you are expected to abide by the following club code of conduct:

BEHAVIOUR

  • All members must behave appropriately at all times
  • Members must not use any of the apparatus unless a qualified coach is present
  • Gymnasts must not eat or chew gum within the gym
  • All members must respect all fellow club members
  • No bad language to be used
  • All members should aim to establish good communications with all members within the club
  • All members should respect the gym and the policies of the third party venues
  • No threatening behaviour, violence, verbal or physical towards any other members
  • Members should treat all equipment with respect
  • Always listen carefully and follow the coach’s instructions
  • Understand that no form of bullying or harassment, physical or verbal, will be tolerated
  • Be good representatives of Virtue at all times
  • All members must participate within the rules and respect staff, coaches, judges and other officials their decisions
  • Members should behave appropriately at training, competitions or events and remember they are representing the club at all times
  • All members must respect opponents and officials and all staff
  • All members must respect fellow members at all times, both in and out of the gym
  • Members should always ask their coach for permission to be dismissed from the gym for either toilet or drink breaks
  • Members should never use social media sites or mobile services to post any disrespectful, derogatory or inappropriate comment’s towards Virtue, coaches, other members or other clubs and their members.

TRAINING

  • All members must wear a Virtue club uniform
  • Gymnasts must wear suitable clothing at training sessions in line with the British Gymnastics Code of Dress Policy. Long hair must be tied back securely and no jewellery (including earrings) or watches may be worn.
  • All members should inform the coach in charge, of any illness or injury at the start of each session
  • All medical details need to be up to date
  • Please make sure your child has used the toilet before the start of their session to avoid unnecessary interruptions
  • Members must bring plenty to drink to each session, No water = no entry
  • Gymnasts must be delivered to and collected from training sessions on time. All gymnasts should be delivered to and collected from within the gym hall and not expected to wait outside. Without selecting the walking home release option on the enrolment form your child will not be allowed to leave the gym hall without a parent or guardian present, regardless of their age
  • Please refrain from entering the gym to speak to coaching staff. If you need to speak to a member of the coaching staff, please ask at the office or send an email
  • If a child is going to be absent the club must be informed
  • If a child is going to be collected late, a late fee will apply 
  • All fees must be paid promptly
  • To protect our members, we have a strict NO unauthorised photos or videos rule

SITE

  • Please remember you are responsible for other children in your care in all areas of our gym at all times
  • Please ensure no valuables are left in the gym. The Club is not responsible for loss of any valuables
  • No smoking is permitted anywhere on the premises

We have a 3-strike policy and conversations with parents about behaviour will be documented. If we have repeated conversations about a member’s behaviour, we may be left with no choice but to remove their membership.

Members are expected to behave respectfully to each other and to staff. Rudeness, abuse, swearing, shouting, violence and inappropriate behaviour, whether in person, on the phone or by email, will not be tolerated and may result in your membership being cancelled or refused.

Failure to adhere to any policies will result in disciplinary action and may lead to suspension or exclusion from the club. Virtue reserve the right to remove or refuse membership to any one who fails to adhere to our policies.
